Clove

About the product
The clove tree is an evergreen tree of the Myrtaceae family. It is a triangular shaped evergreen tree growing about 40 feet tall with smooth gray bark and 5-inch-long, glossy opposite leaves that resemble bay leaves.
The eye-catching red and white bell shaped flowers bloom year round in ¼ inch clusters at the ends of the branches and have four tiny petals surrounded by a long, four-parted calyx (the “stem” of the clove) and numerous stamens.
Actually, Clove of commerce is the dried, fully grown but still unopened flower buds of
the evergreen tree.
Clove is largely used as dried whole buds. Ground clove is used for curry mixtures and clove oil is used for flavoring foods and in pharmaceutical perfumery industry.
Cloves are used either whole or ground to provide flavor for both sweet and savory foods in pickling and the production of sauces and ketchups. As a medicine it is valued as a carminative, aromatic and stimulant.
