Microsilica

About the product
Basically it has to be mixed with concrete so as per your mix design there will be a 7% of replacement. For example if you are using 400kg of Cement in 1metre cube than to add microsilica you have to take out 28kgs of cement from 400kgs and add 28kgs of microsilica thats all. In sjort it is replacement of 7% Cement in your mix design.

HOW SILICA FUME WORKS IN CONCRETE:

High properties of silicafume which improves characteristics of:
· Concrete
· Compression strength,
· Adhesion strength,
· Wear resistance,
· Freeze resistance,
· Chemical durability
· Considerably reduces permeability
· Resistance to Sulfur and Alkali attacks
· Increased Insulation Properties

WHERE SILICAFUME SHOULD BE USED:

It is used best for Insulation properties in Commercial and Residential Infrastructures.

ADVANTAGES OF SILICA FUME IN CONCRETE:

Ø Very low permeability to chloride and water intrusion
Ø Extremely high electrical resistivity (20 to 100 times greater than ordinary Concrete)
Ø Increased abrasion resistance on decks, floors, highways and marine structures
Ø Superior resistance to chemical attack from chlorides nitrates and sulphates
Ø Compressive strengths up to 20,000 psi(140Mpa)
Ø High flexural strengths(14 Mpa @ 28 days) for airport pavements
Ø High early strengths for fast track construction projects and precast applications

Highway bridges, parking decks, marine structures and bridge deck overlays are subject to constant deterioration caused by rebar corrosion current, abrasion, chemical attack. Silica fume will protect concrete against deicing salts, seawater, road traffic and freeze/thaw cycles. Rebar corrosion activity and concrete deterioration are virtually eliminated, which minimizes maintenance expenses.
